We've collected some of the most common questions we receive, even made up a few, and answered them below. So, what's with the two different GitHub Apps?
We know, it's inconvenient. Short answer, we're working on it. Long one: GitHub only allows one redirect URL per OAuth application. We'll be moving to a different authentication technique for the Chrome extension, please bear with us.
Why do you need repo and public_repo access?
We are sorry. The repo and public_repo scopes grant read and write access to code. While we will NEVER write code to your repository, currently these OAuth scopes are the most narrow that GitHub supports for our use case (there is no repo:read, because who would need that?).
